Women's Prison

Lakeside hosted the monthly birthday party on Sunday, November 2nd. The Delta brass ensemble played a variety of music (jazz, big- band, swing and hymns) that was enjoyed with great enthusiasm by all.

Many thanks to our loyal cupcake and lemonade servers Dot Boyd, Joanne Castleberry and Bea Robey, as well as musicians Keith Grimes, Mike Pate, Trumann Self, Roy Tolson and Bill West.

Toiletries are urgently needed at this time. Chaplain Flo Lowe’s first day back at work was Sunday. She has much appreciated our prayers, and still needs them.

Tuna, Tuna, Tuna

Fifty cans of tuna were delivered to Neighbor to Neighbor last week, along with a donation of $25.00 as well. Neighbor to Neighbor has a constant use for the paper grocery bags that we take them, so keep bringing them in. Please remember our commitment to feed the hungry of our community each month. We appreciate all donations!

Fruit Cocktail

Neighbor to Neighbor has contacted Lakeside about the Fruit Cocktail collection for November and December. This year they are requesting 125 cans for each holiday. The 2008 Thanksgiving collections need to be delivered by November 5th. Please consider picking up a few cans the next time your are shopping, and drop them in our baskets.

Christmas Stockings

The Lakeside UMW is sponsoring the Salvation Army’s Stuff a Christmas Stocking program this year. Fill an empty stocking for a needy child with Christmas presents and special treats! You decide the age child to receive your stuffed stocking. Just tag the stocking topper “Boy” or “Girl” and include the approximate age of the child you wish to receive your stocking.

Please do not include fresh fruit, and remember that all candy must be individually wrapped. The empty stockings are in the church office and may be picked up during regular office hours. Please return them to Lakeside by December 14.

Sponsor A Child for Christmas

The Mission Committee has received a request from Neighbor to Neighbor to Sponsor A Child for Christmas. They are asking Lakeside to sponsor 10 children at $50.00 per child.

If your Sunday School class, or you as an individual, is interested in sponsoring a child, please give your donation to Connie in the office.
