Activities:
Fellowship, games, lessons, mission projects, fund raising, outings,
lock-ins, and much more.
Sunday
School: 9:30 a.m.
in the Youth Suite upstairs. Current topical subjects are discussed,
including movies.
United
Methodist Youth Fellowship: Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00
pm in the Youth Center. A fellowship meal is provided by the parents
on a rotational basis.
The Lakeside United Methodist
Youth Group (UMY) meets every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in our Youth Center.
UMY is open to all youth from 7th to 12th grade.
We begin each meeting with a Snack Supper which is provided by one
of our families. We then spend time in fellowship, participating in
group activities, and in weekly devotionals and lessons.
From time to time we also have special meetings where we participate
in a mission activity, go to a movie as a group, or participate in
some other fun activity.
LUMC Youth are all active in school programs as well as personal interest
activities.
Our Youth are also active in the life and ministry of Lakeside. They
often serve as volunteers to help make many of our church activities
successful. This past year they have helped with the Fall Festival,
Vacation Bible School, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and with handing
out flyers for our Mi Casa ministries annual Cinco De Mayo Celebration.
Each year our Youth Group participates in a summer mission trip. In
2004, we traveled to Hudson, IL where we spent a week cleaning up
and making repairs at a church camp and retreat center.
In 2005, we traveled to San Antonio, TX and worked with Travis Park
UMC and their S.A.V.E. program. During the week we had the opportunity
to participate in several of the ministries that Travis Park UMC provides
for the homeless, as well as some of the other ministries that take
place in San Antonio for the disadvantaged.
In 2006, the youth worked with the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference,
to help them repair a church sanctuary for worship purposes.
We always have a good time on our mission trips, and designate one
day just to have fun.
